Girls in (and likely out of) bikinis. Guns. Crime. Drugs. Sex. These are the building blocks of Harmony Korine‘s latest film Spring Breakers, and yeah, we kind of want to see it. Though Korine made his name with the art-exploitation film Kids, and spent some years in the art house wilderness, this is likely to be his biggest crossover hit. Now there’s a new trailer.

For the film he gathered Ashley Benson, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and wife Rachel Korine to play the young girls who go on Spring Break and end up hooking up with a cracker crime lord (James Franco). But as the trailer suggests, it gets crazy from there. The trailer also suggests that Selena Gomez is trying to break her image as a goody-two-shoes, but that her character is the one who walks away from the escalating troubles before she gets in too deep. Here’s that trailer:

With Korine behind it, it’s hard to tell from the outset if there is anything going on under the surface. Is it art or is it base exploitation? That’s a question that’s been leveled at all of his output, but this could be the best rise and fall of criminal story in quite some time. If nothing else, it should be an experience. Spring Breakers opens in New York and Los Angeles March 15, with a wider release on March 22.
