So, remember Ninja Turtles, the Michael Bay reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film franchise, in which the heroes would be alien turtles from Dimension X that aren’t really teens, mutants, or turtles? Well, despite the best effort of the internet and even a disappointed Paramount Pictures, Bay is still pushing it forward. How do we know? Megan Fox has been cast as April O’Neil, longtime friend to the turtles.
Yes, that’s correct—despite holding a semi-feud with Bay after comparing him to Adolf Hitler, Fox seems to have mended fences with the volatile director, as Bay has announced via his website: “TMNT: We are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!”
Fans may remember that in the film franchise, O’Neil was a reporter who often teamed up with the turtles, while in the graphic novels she was a computer programmer.
Also of note: as /Film points out, Bay refers to the film as “TMNT,” that is, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Does that mean these will actually be teenagers and mutants as well as ninjas and turtles? Only time will tell—and we’ll find out when the film is eventually released on May 16, 2014.
