It seems that David O. Russell is hoping lightening will strike not just twice, but thrice—coming on the heels of the news that he has cast his Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence in the upcoming film Abscam, /Film now has it that the volatile director has also cast Lawrence in the upcoming The Ends of the Earth.

As we noted earlier in the week, Lawrence will star in Abscam (formerly titled American Bullsh*t), the story of the Abscam FBI sting of the 1970s which brought down several corrupt politicians.  Lawrence will play the wife of Christian Bale in the film.

The Ends of the Earth sounds far more intriguing—the film, written by Chris Terrio (Argo), tells the true story of Ernest Marland, who begins an affair with his wife’s niece Lydie.  Eventually he and Lydie fall in love and get married, at which point Lydie pushes Ernest “to raise his workers’ wages and give them access to medical care.”  Long story short, it sounds like another Academy Award nomination for Jennifer Lawrence is likely on the way.

Lawrence is currently will also be seen in the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.
