Thus far, the casting for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has consisted solely of members from both X-Men franchises: the original trilogy’s Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore will be joining forces with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult of X-Men: First Class. But now, the first new face to the X-Men franchise has signed on: Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage.
Bryan Singer announced the news on Valentine’s Day via Twitter:
So far, no word on who Dinklage would be playing; that said, fan rumor-mongering suggests that Dinklage may be playing Puck, a member of Alpha Flight (a.k.a., the Canadian X-Men).
X-Men: Days of Future Past involves two storylines and timelines: one in the present, in which the X-Men fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a potential future timeline in which the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly creates a dystopia in which mutants are forced to live in internment camps. The two timelines converge when the mutant Kitty Pryde sends her mind back from the future to warn her fellow X-Men.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for a 3D release on July 18, 2014.
