As everyone involved in the production of television shows struggles to adapt to the streaming technology that is eroding the number of viewers who actually tune in for a program’s original broadcast time, CBS is making an attempt to work with the competition by allowing its upcoming miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s Under the Dome to stream online via Amazon’s Prime Instant Video.  Details on how you can see the show online are below.

The CBS Corporation has signed a content licensing agreement with Amazon.com for an “in-season, online subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) window” for Under the Dome to stream via Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service, which will be the exclusive streaming home for the miniseries.

Members of Amazon Prime will able to stream Under the Dome on any Amazon Instant Video device (which includes iPads, iPhones, Xbox 360, PS3, computers, Blu-Ray devices with internet connectivity, etc.).  The only catch?  The episodes won’t become available until four days after their initial broadcast, which seems to defeat the point somewhat (both iTunes and Hulu begin streaming TV shows within 24 hours).

Under the Dome is massive novel that features a quiet New England town that suddenly finds itself completely trapped beneath a massive clear dome.  The 13-episode miniseries is set to premiere on June 24, 2013.
