Thanks to the fact that every actor in the film is denying it while all of the film’s marketing seems to suggest it, the question of whether or not classic Star Trek big bad Khan is the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness is driving the Trek fan community bonkers.  For every trailer clip that seems to indicate J.J. Abrams is going full Wrath of Khan with this one, there is an actor who totally denies the villain’s presence in the film.  (As for why it matters—well, it doesn’t really, beyond the fact we must have every bit of spoiler-y information about a film before it’s released, because we’re horrible, just horrible).  And now, yet another Star Trek Into Darkness star is denying Khan’s presence.

Alice Eve, who is playing the character Dr. Carol Marcus (a character solely created for—and only featured in—Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan), was interviewed on the red carpet of the BAFTA’s this weekend, and was asked as to whether or not Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain John Harrison was really Khan.  Here blunt response?  “He’s not playing Khan.”

And while we wish we could take that news at face value, we have to at least pretend that Eve is a totally evil person who is lying to all of us, otherwise we have no article to publish and we’d have to actually wait until the film’s May 15th release date like sane and rational human beings to find out the film’s plot.  And who’d want to do a thing like that?

What do you think of the Khan news?
