Actress Elizabeth Olsen is one of the more admirable young actresses emerging onto the scene within the past couple of years. Instead of rushing head-first into the latest and greatest possible blockbuster blunder she could grab onto, she chose her roles carefully. Now she’s built up the reputation as a phenomenal young actress so now she’s treating herself in a way by taking part of what could be some good old fun in the Godzilla reboot (something that had been rumored last week).

Godzilla has always been one of those movie properties that Hollywood couldn’t really do just right. There was the critically panned 1998 Godzilla, the Roland Emmerich remake starring Matthew Broderick that fans of the original Japanese movie franchise never really warmed up to. Years later, the fine folks over at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are trying to rectify past mistakes by pulling off a darker, more true-to-the-original reboot. They’re certainly starting off on the right foot, getting the likes of Elizabeth Olsen to star in the cast. She spoke up about her new role at this weekend’s BAFTAs:

“Well it’s definitely not lighthearted. It’s kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film.”

Now the next question is how well is the script, especially since it’s sparking the interest of several talented actors in the field. Frank Darabont is currently working on the story, which makes us mighty happy. For those of you who don’t know, Darabont is responsible for developing The Walking Dead television series and wrote The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Needless to say, he’s a crazy great scriptwriter. So basically what I’m saying is yes, bring on this Godzilla remake.

Are you looking forward to the Godzilla remake?
