As you’ve probably already heard, The Office is finally wrapping up its nine-year run this May, after going a number of years past its prime (honestly, the show really had no need to exist after the season seven episode in which Michael Scott left the offices of Dunder Mifflin). And, as we inch ever closer to The Office’s eventual close, NBC is starting to let a few details trickle out.
First off, in case you want to plan a viewing party, know that the final episode will air on May 16th. Also, it will be the series’ 200th episode (well, technically, it will be the 199th and 200th episodes, as it will be an hour-long double episode). Also, expect departed stars B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling to return; however, don’t expect Steve Carell to return as Michael Scott, as Carell has stated he is not interested in bringing the character back.
So there you have it—May 16, 200th episode, some returning stars, an hour long. Still no word on the episode’s title, or how this season’s increasing focus on the documentary film crew will pay off, or if Jim and Pam will stay together/split, or if the show will be able to end with at least a modicum of dignity. Find out on May 16th.
Will you be tuning in to see The Office close?
