One of the more interesting aspects of Disney’s re-launching of the Star Wars franchise is that not only are they prepping the release of an all-new trilogy, but that they are set to release a series of stand-alone films set within the Star Wars universe as well.  And the first of those stand-alone films may well star a little green guy who has an odd manner of speaking.

That’s right, Yoda is now rumored to be receiving his own spin-off stand-alone film.  According to Ain’t it Cool News (via /Film):

“The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate.”

No real details are known about this rumored project, beyond the fact that Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi scribe Lawrence Kasdan might be writing the script.  Ain’t it Cool News goes on to noted that Jabba the Hut may be receiving his own film as well, which is just… well, at least there will probably be a lot of those gold bikinis, right?

While a film entirely about Yoda sounds a little annoying (seriously, do you really want to hear someone talk like that for two hours straight), it could work if Kasdan were behind it.

What do you think of the rumor?
