Ok, look, just in case the headline wasn’t enough—there are significant spoilers to The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3 below concerning a certain green CGI rage monster who smashes gods and really doesn’t like Scarlett Johansson.  Got it?  Ok, so no complaining then.

Warning: The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3 spoilers ahead.

As Hulk is the only member of the Avengers not get to a ‘Marvel Phase 2’ film (well, ok, Hawkeye and Black Widow aren’t getting them either, but who exactly is clamoring for one of those?), one would hope then that Marvel would put plenty of focus on the big guy during The Avengers 2 and The Avengers 3, given the character’s monumental popularity after The Avengers.

Well, it seems that Marvel is doing exactly that, if the usually quite accurate Latino Review (via Cinema Blend) can be believed.  The website quotes a source in stating that The Avengers 2 plotline will incorporate the Planet Hulk storyline: the Hulk becomes an increasingly destructive presence on Earth, so eventually members of the Avengers launch him into space.  From there, he crash lands on an alien planet, becomes a slave, then a gladiator, and then he rules as a leader.

Not bad, no?  Maybe a little John Carter-y, but with lots more green rage.

Further, The Avengers 3 is said to be based on the World War Hulk arc, in which Hulk returns to Earth for his revenge on those who exiled him.

It all sounds like a pretty big gambit, and Hulk has yet to prove himself as a primary character (part of what made him so great in The Avengers is that he was simply a support character)—what do you think?

Can Hulk carry the Avengers franchise?
