Maybe it’s just the fan in me, but my curiosity over whether or not Kitty Pryde will get a good amount of screen time in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past is the biggest question in my mind when it comes to this production. The character is a fan-favorite and launches the popular story line into motion as she travels back in time. Fans may be getting their wish after all as a comic writer drops a massive hint on us all.
Mark Millar‘s a smart man, and a clever comic book writer. He’s worked on a number of comics, from Ultimate X-Men to his own creation, Kick-Ass. Along with being a successful comic book writer, he’s been hired by Twentieth Century Fox as a consultant for the studios’ latest Marvel movies. What a comfortable job. Since he’s their official consultant, that means he’s already laid his eyes on the script for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The lucky sob.
During an interview, Millar let it slip that yes, the Sentinels will be in the upcoming sequel. That’s great for X-Men fans, considering that the only time we “saw” a Sentinel was when its head was slashed off by Wolverine during a Danger Room exercise in X-Men: The Last Stand, or that one movie fans like to pretend never existed. The Sentinels are the gigantic robotic beings responsible for keeping mutants in line in the comics, which means they more or less obliterate them. They become one of the biggest enemies the remaining members of the X-Men try to avoid in order to survive the grim alternate future for Days of Future Past. We hope that the designs for the Sentinels come online soon!
Now onto Kitty Pryde, who basically is our main heroine in Days of Future Past. Mark Millar knew what he was doing when he let the following sentences float out onto the Internet:
“As soon as I say something it will turn into a big internet story. Let me put it this way though: Kitty Pryde fans will not be disappointed.”
That leads us to believe that Kitty Pryde will still have a large role when it comes to Days of Future Past. If we had to guess, we’d say that Kitty Pryde will still be the one person to time-travel back to the early seventies in order to warn the younger X-Men team about what would happen if Senator Robert Kelly is assassinated by the hands of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Did we mention that the movie is taking place in 1973? Because it is. It’ll be set ten years after the events that took place in X-Men: First Class. That means there’s a better chance we’ll see a super evil Mystique and perhaps a balding Charles Xavier. We kind of really want to see James McAvoy with a bald cap on.
Are you looking forward to X-Men: Days of Future Past?
