The casting news just keeps on coming for the upcoming and highly-anticipated Sin City: A Dame To Kill For—so far, we’ve learned that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will star, that Bruce Willis will return, and that Jeremy Piven, Juno Temple, and Ray Liotta have all been added, as well as Christopher Meloni and Josh Brolin.  Only one question has remained: who would star as the titular dame of the film?  Well, today, the question was answered.

Eva Green (Casino Royale, Dark Shadows) has been cast as the “deadly muse” of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Ava Lord.  Described by Sin City creator Frank Miller, Ava is “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.”

It’s fitting casting as, despite the film’s numerous flaws, Green was one of the few highlights of Dark Shadows—the actress does attractive, utterly insane women very, very well.

As for her casting, directors Robert Rodriguez and Miller had this to say:

“We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time.  Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City.  From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green.  We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is currently shooting in Austin, Texas, and is set for an October 4, 2013 release date.
