DC Comics and Warner Bros continues to try and catch up with Marvel Studios on the comic book movie trail. DC has been trying to get a Justice League movie off the ground for quite a few years, but have continually failed to do so. Now the company is taking the right steps to make it a reality, and they know just the superheroes they want on their first roster.
The lucky superheroes who will appear in the first Justice League movie include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern. And that sound you heard immediately after the announcement is a hoard of DC fans relieved to find out that they aren’t going the Justice League Unlimited route and flooding us with dozens of superheroes (though we really miss that show).
But don’t think DC and Warner Bros aren’t going to throw in a couple of cameos for us comic book fans. Word has it that Martin Manhunter, Aquaman or Hawkman could make an appearance at some point in the film. We’re not exactly sure how but we kind of hope that’s not the case. We’re already going to have to deal with origin stories on Wonder Woman and The Flash in this movie, we don’t want another half hour added onto the film just to explain how cool Aquaman is. Seriously, he’s pretty awesome now. If you don’t believe us, pick up Geoff Johns’ New 52 comic run of Aquaman.
Hopes just aren’t that high for the Justice League movie at the moment. It feels like DC Comics and Warner Bros are so desperate to get in the game that they’ll jump ahead and make one big movie with a few superheroes lumped into it instead of taking the time, and a couple of films, to set up more of the universe. If they were going to take some cues from Marvel Studios and how they’re handling their properties, we wish Warner Bros and DC Comics would have taken notes on that most of all.
Will you see the Justice League movie?
