All right, calm down there fanboys/fangirls. Let’s first point out that this is nothing more than a rumor at the moment, but that doesn’t mean this Batman reboot couldn’t happen sometime in the near future. Either way, we figure there’s at least a couple of people over at Warner Bros who have been discussing the possibility of starting over once again on the Batman franchise. The question is, does anyone really want to see that happen?
If you’ve seen Christopher Nolan’s latest film The Dark Knight Rises, you saw that there’s a chance that Officer Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) could very well become the latest caped crusader for Gotham. Fans switched into daydream mode as they imagined Levitt dressed up as Batman, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his reps have denied up and down the possibility of him playing Batman in a future movie. We’re not even sure if he’ll play Batman in the Justice League movie, but if he doesn’t want to do it then we highly recommend to Warner Bros that they cast Karl Urban.
The only way this Batman reboot will happen is if Man of Steel does amazing in the box office. Then again, this isn’t the first time in the past decade that they tried to reboot the Superman franchise in a way and failed (Superman Returns). Who’s to say the same thing won’t happen again. We all know the origin story of Superman, we don’t really need it to be retold to us. Then again audiences may take a shine to it the same way they did with The Amazing Spider-Man. The darker, angst-ridden version of Peter Parker attracted enough attention to warrant a sequel. Maybe this hurt, soul-searching version of Superman will be enough for audiences to love, and green light the Batman reboot.
Others could argue that maybe Warner Bros wasn’t completely satisfied with the Christopher Nolan version of the franchise, which would make no sense. The trilogy alone made Warner Bros over a billion dollars in the box office. We still don’t understand why they would want to start over with another Batman origin movie. Hey Warner Bros, come over here a minute. We’ve got a good suggestion for you: make a Batman Beyond movie. Don’t you tell us you guys don’t have enough money to make one at this point. You’ll be able to hire a fresh new face as Terry and can still keep plenty of us Batman fans happy without going back to square one. I’m just going to keep repeating this until you (WB) realize this is the better decision.
Do you want to see another Batman reboot?
