There are few filmmakers that are so incredibly dedicated to their project that they keep their hands in many parts of the process, from writing all the way down to the final cut. Some serve only as directors while others may try their hand at writing the script. Then there’s folks like filmmaker Shane Carruth who not only write and direct, but edit, compose and even co-star in their own pictures. They just released the second trailer for his upcoming project, Upstream Color, and man does it look fantastic.
Upstream Color has been receiving a large amount of buzz ever since the first trailer was released. The picture is said to be premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and, in some ways, is already the first big talked-about movie that many will see in Park City, Utah in just a few days.
The film centers on a man and a woman who struggle to piece back together their ruined lives as they deal with an ageless organism that continues to pull them in. We’re not exactly sure how the sci-fi aspect will play out in the movie but we’re really curious to see it. After all, we are talking about the same man who wrote and directed Primer.
No need to fret. If you won’t be making your way over to the Sundance Film Festival, you can still see Upstream Color when it hits theaters on April 5th. Check out the latest trailer below.
