Continuing the streak of films that proves that Jeremy Renner will star in absolutely anything offered to him, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is set for a January 25th release. And, despite already receiving one red band trailer, the film is getting yet another slightly Not Safe For Work ad (there’s mild cursing and some CGI witch-killing), just in case the blood and guts crowd forgot the film was coming out in a few weeks.
As with the previous trailers, this ad establishes that after killing the mean old witch with the candy house, Hansel and Gretel grew up to a be a couple of steampunk badasses who more or less act as witch bounty hunters. Everything is going well until, dum dum dummmmm, a witch who killed their parents comes back for more and… you know what? Just watch the ridiculous trailer:
The film doesn’t look terrible, per se, but it doesn’t exactly look great, either. And the fact that Paramount is unloading it in the dreaded month of January doesn’t exactly speak well of the film’s chances, nor of the studio’s confidence (or lack thereof) in the project. That said, it can’t be anywhere near as bad as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, right?
What do you think of the trailer?
