After what seems like a decade of rumors, false starts, troubled shooting and more, it’s hard to believe that George Miller‘s Mad Max: Fury Road would ever be released, much less filmed. But as production has wrapped it looks like – yes – we will someday, perhaps even next year, get to see the fourth entry in this road-rage maximum opus. Now’s there’s picture proof that Tom Hardy plays the lead and looks pretty good doing it.
Here’s that picture, taken from Instagram:
And supposedly that’s Tom Hardy’s signature, which makes this all the more official-like. The film costars Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Zoë Kravitz, but we haven’t heard about when the film is hitting theaters, as perhaps no one wanted to schedule it in fear that it would never happen.
But it’s quite possible we’ll be seeing the picture sometime next year. From the reports, and because of the nature of a car-chase, car-crash movie, it seems that many of the big set pieces and stunts were done practically, which means it may not need five or six months of post-production to get all the effects done. And though late in the game sequel/prequels to well loved properties have mostly been misfires, this is one of the few that we can say we’re genuinely excited for.
