With the news that Quentin Tarantino might be moving on to different pastures (specifically, pay cable) following the downfall of 35 mm, now may be a good time for Tarantino fans to start picking up some of his film memorabilia while you still can—or, if not a fan, grab something for your favorite QT fan for Christmas. A cheap and easy option? A Django Unchained comic book series, adapted directly from Tarantino’s original script.
That’s right—not just an adaptation of the film, but of the much lengthier original Django script, featuring all of the scenes Tarantino had to cut in order to meet the film’s already lengthy two hour and 45 minute running time.
The series will feature artwork by R. M. Guéra, and the first cover was drawn by Jim Lee (check it out below, along with Tarantino’s introduction).
Django Unchained concerns the story of Django (Jaime Foxx), an escaped slave, who teams up with a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz), to rescue Django’s wife from Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). The film co-stars Sam Jackson, Kerry Washington, Don Johnson, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and James Remar.
Django Unchained is set for a December 25, 2012 release.
