We’re at the beginning of a new wave of Muppets movies. When audiences were reintroduced to the fuzzy and furry cast of puppet characters last year in The Muppets, we all fell back in love with them. Now Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the gang is gearing up for an overseas adventure in their latest movie, but who will be the human lead who sticks by the funny group in their next wacky adventure?
Modern Family star Ty Burrell will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming Muppet movie. For the past couple of weeks we were under the impression that Christoph Waltz would be taking on the lead part, but negotiations fell through due to his busy schedule. Man, we were really hoping that he’d be starring in this picture, but Ty Burrell is just as great of a choice as him. His comedic timing and delivery in sitcoms like Modern Family makes him the ideal candidate to dish out the laughs alongside the Muppets.
James Bobin will come back to direct the sequel written by Nicholas Stoller. Burrell will be playing a European Interpol inspector who gets caught up in the Muppets’ latest adventure. Burrell won’t be the only human character in the film, but at the moment there has been nobody cast as the female Russian character. Filming will begin on the new Muppet movie at some point next year.
Which female actress would you like to see co-starring in the latest Muppet movie?
