Les Misérables has proved to be a timeless classic, and now we’re just a couple of weeks away from its theatrical release, re-imagined for the big screen by filmmaker Tom Hooper. So of course we’re going to be flooded with tons of new television spots in anticipation of its release. Well, here’s a couple more for you to chew on.
What fascinates us the most about the television spots so far is the over-exposure of Anne Hathaway‘s character, Fantine. If you’re familiar with the play or book, you know that she’s a rather minor character in the story. So to see them chuck so many of her scenes into these previews is disheartening – but speaks to the fact that she’s currently the best supporting actress front-runner (and is, you know, easy on the eyes). Audiences who have never seen or read Les Misérables will have what happens to Fantine spoiled before they even see the film. So check out a couple of these television spots at your own discretion:
In the film, Hugh Jackman is Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who runs from his past in order to start a new life. But when officer Javert (Russell Crowe) pops back into the picture looking for Valjean years later, his quiet world is thrown off-course amongst the backdrop of nineteenth century France. The rest of the all-star cast includes Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried and many others.
What are you looking forward to seeing the most in Les Misérables?
