The curtain has been lifted and Paramount has revealed their first official poster for their highly anticipated sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness. While there’s already been an overwhelming critique of the style of the poster, you have to admit that you’re excited to see J.J. Abrams‘ latest sci-fi flick. At least, we are.
Yes, there’s been plenty of people who have pointed out the obvious comparison between this poster and the main one used for The Dark Knight Rises. What we’re the most curious about with it is the tiny man who’s standing in the middle, which we can obviously assume is Benedict Cumberbatch‘s character. Who that character is (Khan, Gary Mitchell, Harcourt Fenton Mudd?) is unknown. If you want to go into poster dissection mode, you can speculate that our new villain will be having some fun dividing all of those on board the Enterprise, mentally and physically (watch out red shirts). More than anything we’re just super excited to see Benedict Cumberbatch taking over the movie world by storm, one amazing performance at a time. And if some of you have not seen Sherlock yet, look it up on Netflix.
While we may be months away from the official release, we the poster reveal points out that official trailer and nine minute preview is just around the corner. And we’re hoping it gives us a solid bead on the story because – though we loved the first film – all this secretive stuff Abrams traffics in gets to be a bit annoying after a while. Now scroll down to see the brand new poster.
What do you think of the first poster?
