If there’s one modern director who could pull off a film about gigantic, Godzilla-sized monsters attacking humanity, and the giant robots (called Jaegers) that human beings then pilot to fight back, it’s Guillermo del Toro. And while we have to wait until July 12, 2013 to see the film, called Pacific Rim, or at least until next month for a trailer to be attached to The Hobbit, at least we have the first viral video for the film. There are no monsters in it, but hey, if it’s anything like the Prometheus viral campaign, we may eventually have enough clips to construct our own film (and one that would be a lot more interesting that Prometheus).
In the clip, we hear and see a test of the Kaiju Emergency Alert System. For those of you not in the know, ‘Kaiju’ refers to the gargantuan beasts of the film. So, no, not much in the way of footage here, but it is a slightly creepy/oddball peek into the world of Pacific Rim, and what the lives of its inhabitants must be like:
Again, if it’s big monsters you want, you’ll likely have to wait until the film hits theaters in July of 2013. But until then, there’s always Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, right?
What did you think of the video?
