Because it’s the biopic that the entire world has been clamoring for, Fox Searchlight has secured the rights to tell the cinematic story of non other than Susan Boyle, of Britain’s Got Talent fame.  Yes, you read that correctly—Susan Boyle, of Britain’s Got Talent fame, will be receiving a biopic treatment from Fox Searchlight.

The film will reportedly draw heavily on material featured in the musical based upon Boyle’s life, I Dreamed a Dream, as well as Boyle’s autobiography, The Woman I Was Born to Be.

As noted in Total Film, the biopic will likely focus on how Boyle was “born working class, struggled with mental health issues and then wound up on a television talent contest.”

Lucas Webb, who will produce the film, has noted that the as yet untitled movie will be “a sensitive and honest biopic infused with music.”

At the moment, no director, writer or star have been attached to the project.  A reason for the film’s existence has yet to have been provided, either, but hey—it’s not like anyone would rather see a Beatles biopic, or Velvet Underground biopic, or a Nico film, right?  So Susan Boyle it is.

What do you think of the Susan Boyle news?
