Seemingly combining the worst and most garish elements of everything that Tim Burton and Peter Jackson have put on film (or digitally recorded) over the past few years, Jack the Giant Slayer appears to be nothing more than a loud, CGI-heavy mess of sub-Lord of the Rings fantasy and really, really bad humor (the film’s tagline?  “You don’t know Jack“).  How do we know?  From the ridiculous trailer, that’s how.  Check it out below.

So in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Slayer, “an ancient war is reignited” when a young farmer named Jack opens a bean-stalked entryway to the world of giants.  The giants get pissy and decide to reclaim the Earth and kidnap the princess that Jack has the hots for, so Jack and a group of warriors do their best to pretend they’re not ripping of Lord of the Rings and go on a long walking journey to rescue the princess and slay the dragons.  Oh, and then Ian McKellan talks and there’s a lot of unconvincing CGI.

So what do you think?  The trailer, and the fact that the film was pushed back from its original release date of June 15, 2012, doesn’t exactly have us hopeful for this one.  You can decide for yourself upon the film’s March 1, 2013 release.

What do you think of the trailer?
