When you’re dealing with a widely known superhero movie franchise like Spider-Man, you have to choose your cast carefully. One slip-up in casting and fans will be ripping you apart on your decision for years to come. That’s why the good folks over at Sony Pictures are taking their precious time, narrowing down the potential actors who could be the latest rendition of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
There’s been a number of young male actors that have been trying their hand to be Harry Osborn, the best friend of Peter Parker/Spider-Man who eventually turns into a villain of sorts. He’s a major character in the Spider-Man universe so it makes sense that Sony’s weeding out who could be the right person for the job. But who’s the latest to be considered? None other than actors Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) and Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn). But are they good enough choices for the part?
We’re wondering how much they’re considering Sam Claflin, especially given the fact that he’s attached to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as a major character. Wouldn’t he not have enough time to commit himself to another franchise if he’s already latched onto one? Then there’s Eddie Redmayne. He’s got the time on his hands to be an Osborn and has the acting chops, making him the most likely of candidates to bag the role. It’s easy to see him as a Harry Osborn, but we must not forget that there are plenty of other young male actors out there trying to sink their teeth into the role. Guess it just depends on which one Sony likes the most out of their selection of actors.
