Earlier this year, it was announced that Insidious would be getting a sequel. This came as a surprise to no one – the horror film raked in $100 million worldwide on a budget of $1.5 million. It also helped that the film was actually scary (the good reviews were also plus). It’s already been confirmed that director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell would be returning for the next chapter. Now Film District has announced that Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne will also be reprising their roles in Insidious 2.

Besides Wilson and Byrne, Ty Simpkins and Lin Shaye will also be returning.

In the first film, Josh (Wilson) and Renai (Byrne) unsuccessfully attempt to uncover the root cause of their son’s condition, and the stress of the situation begins to take a toll on their marriage. The two soon realize that they are dealing with powers beyond human comprehension.

There’s no story details on the sequel yet, but since the original actors are coming back, we can assume that the story will pick up where the last film left off, with Wilson’s Josh being taken over by an evil spirit.

The film is set to start production in Los Angeles in January. Insidious 2 is set to arrive in theaters on August 20, 2013.

What do you think? Are you excited for this sequel?
