While the past few years have seen numerous annoying trends ascending in the film world (the resurgence of 3D gimmicky to raise ticket prices, the ‘trailer for the trailer,’ Katherine Heigl romantic comedies), one trend that, when done properly, truly works is IMAX.  Creating breathtaking visuals in such films as The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, IMAX films can create a far more immersive experience that shoddy, post-converted 3D films.  So it’s an excellent news day when Warner Bros. announces that they have sealed a deal with IMAX to release 20 films in “the immersive IMAX Experience over the next three years.”

This is great news for cinema lovers—IMAX, when done well, can be a dizzying, incredible visual experience, and the fact that Warner Bros. is embracing the format is heartening.  Curious which films will be blowing your mind in IMAX size?  Check out the list below, courtesy of First Showing:
