Yesterday, we reported that Star Trek Into Darkness, one the most mysterious and anticipated films of 2013 (and most unfortunately-titled) is finally getting a public preview in the form of a nine-minute IMAX presentation on December 14th that will feature the film’s opening sequence. The preview will be attached to IMAX prints of The Hobbit, just as The Dark Knight Rises was attached to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in 2011. But what if you don’t live in a city with a genuine IMAX theater? Fear not, Paramount has you covered.
On December 14th, non-IMAX The Hobbit showings will have the first official Star Trek Into Darkness trailer attached to it. The trailer will feature “highlights from the entire film,” not just the opening nine minutes.
But while the Star Trek Into Darkness trailer will likely pop up online the following Monday, Paramount will not allow the nine minute preview to hit the web—so expect a lot of grainy cell phone video bootlegs to pop up on YouTube over the weekend before Paramount strikes them down.
And hey, who knows, maybe the trailer will finally answer the Big Question as to whether or not Khan is actually in this film.
