For four years, Kristen Stewart has been at the center of the world wide phenomenon known as Twilight. Her iconic role as Bella, the human girl who falls in love with a vampire, will follow her for the rest of her career. At the Breaking Dawn — Part 2 press conference, a somber Stewart talked about the end of the saga.

In the final film, Stewart finally gets to be a vampire. Although she was eager to make the transition, she felt lucky to have played human Bella for so long.

Kristen Stewart: The best aspects of every vampire, with all of their gifts, what makes them really special is just an enhanced version of what they were when they were human. So, I really did get to play a really well-rounded version [of Bella] because I actually got to take those steps for real. If you were to take the fact that she becomes a vampire completely away, it’s just a more realized version of who she’s been the entire time.

Stewart confessed that she kept Bella’s rings, including the engagement ring from Eclipse. The actress also talked about the first time she realized the magnitude of Twilight.

Kristen Stewart: Comic-Con, for me, was the first time I was ever hit with a wave of human energy that was like, ‘This is not a normal movie’.

Now that the Twilight events and red carpets are over, many are wondering what Stewart will do next. She’s been rumored to be in talks for Focus, a romantic comedy with Ben Affleck, and her movie On The Road opens in December. But Stewart admitted that she can’t really answer any questions about her future plans because it’s such an outsider’s perspective.

Besides turning into a vampire in Breaking Dawn, Stewart also gets to play a mother. She called it one of her “favorite things about the story.”

Kristen Stewart: It was one aspect of [Bella] I was really excited to play. Vampires have slightly more animalistic natures, and what better way to show that? I have a great relationship with my mom, and she can be a bit feral when it comes to being a mom.

When asked if she was glad the whole thing was over, Stewart said she was happy the story was finally out there. While she’s excited that the films won’t weigh on her anymore, she’s going to miss the experience.

Kristen Stewart: I don’t want it to sound like I’m excited to be done with the experience because it’s such a particular time. It’s a feeling, and I will definitely miss that, but I feel like it’s not going anywhere. It is strange. But, things shouldn’t stay stagnant. You’ve got to move on.

Stewart also said that Bella helped her grow up a bit. The whole experience made her feel more like an adult.

Stewart also took some time to praise director Bill Condon. Her favorite thing about him is his understanding of the films. He really put his finger on what drives the story.

Kristen Stewart: He didn’t shy away from anything.

The actress added that the final scene (we won’t give it away) is a “nice little knife twist” that shows what a huge fan of the story Condon is.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens in theaters November 16th.
