After months and months of bad press—director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) has lost control of the production, massive budget and scheduling overruns, rewrite after rewrite, extensive alterations from Max Brooks’ novel, etc.—World War Z finally got a 30 second preview earlier this week, which didn’t tell us much beyond the fact that Brad Pitt would have a silly little bob haircut in the film, and that the Inception soundtrack is pretty easy to rip off. Now we have the full trailer—check it out and form your opinions below.
There’s much more of the bob, along with that bleating, quasi-Inception soundtrack, and boy oh boy, are there a ton of “fast” zombies and slathered-on CGI. While the trailer doesn’t make the film appear to be the mess everyone had heard about, it does have the look of a bloated studio project—tons of CGI, the thinnest connection to the source material, and a movie star who looks quite confused as to why he’s stuck in the middle of this film. Decide for yourself:
Thoughts? Good, bad, indifferent?
World War Z concerns Gerry Lane (that’s Pitt), a bizarrely handsome United Nations employee who goes on a globe-trotting mission to end the global zombie pandemic. The film is set for a June 21, 2013 release.
