Let the groans commence. We know that there are at least a few of you who’ll hate discovering the fact that they’re re-releasing Jurassic Park, but this time it’ll be shown off in stunning 3D. Yeah, we know that doesn’t sound appealing but idea of seeing that darn T-Rex on the big screen in 3D makes the four-year-old me want to run out of the theater screaming all over again.

Today the fine folks at Universal Pictures debuted the first official poster for Jurassic Park 3D, something that none of us ever thought we’d see. But taking a glance at what is a pretty striking first poster reminds us that this franchise is alive and well. Since we’re part of a cinematic environment where the most popular of movies could be subjected to the 3D treatment, this shouldn’t come off as too much of a surprise.

Another thing that we should put into consideration is the probability of the long talked about Jurassic Park 4 getting off the ground when this comes out in the early half of next year. Who knows? Maybe this’ll spark Steven Spielberg‘s interest enough to finally get the creative wheels completely turning on the beloved franchise. All right, we know that it’s unofficially slated to be released at some point in 2014 but so far we haven’t seen enough evidence to convince us that Jurassic Park 4 is legitimately happening. Come on Spielberg and company, we want more dinosaur goodness! Either way it’ll be fun to see this in 3D when it storms out in theaters on April 5, 2013.

What do you think of the Jurassic Park 3D poster?
