Community may be a small show but it’s filled with pure brilliance. For years a small but loyal group of fans stood behind creator Dan Harmon as his clever show bobbed in and out of hiatus at NBC. After getting the sudden boot from his own show, did Mr. Harmon sit around and pout about it? Heck no. He went out there and sold several new shows, including an animated series to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Take that NBC.

So what exactly is this mysterious new animated show all about? Well it’s called Rick and Morty, centering on a genius inventor and his dumb-as-bricks grandson and the many adventures the two get into. We’ll be getting a glimpse of this brand new show during the later half of 2013. You have to admit, Harmon isn’t doing too bad for himself, considering the fact this isn’t the only show he’s sold to a television network. He’s got one tucked away at CBS and another one at Fox. Oh, did we mention he has a film in development? Yeah, he’s that awesome.

While Community continues to wade in the shallow waters of hiatus town as usual, at least Harmon’s future is bright and happy. It’s just an absolute shame that there isn’t too much of a future for Community. Come on, if you seriously think that NBC was going to give it a decent chance during it’s fourth season you were delusional. There’s still no official premiere date for the fourth season which all fans have more or less marked as the last season. Heck, even if we don’t get to see the fourth season at least we got a wonderful and touching ending with season three.

We can’t wait to see what the final product of Dan Harmon’s projects look like. Go Harmon go.

What do you think of the Harmon news?
