After seeing the terrible first teaser trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard—the fifth entry in a series of films about a NYPD cop who somehow keeps bumbling into/subsequently foiling terrorist plots for nearly 30 years now—one hope that the second, longer trailer would have more material to showcase. Surely, once more footage was available, we could see that the franchise had moved beyond the lackluster and generic fourth entry into something better, or more exciting.
But no, this new trailer is more of the same—lots of Bruce Willis smirking, followed by a lot of droopy-eyed sleepwalking through scenes to collect a paycheck, a gal in tight leather, and then a whole bunch of things go boom-boom. Check it out.
So, the basic plot: John McClane goes to visit his son (Jai Courtney) in Russia, the son is involved with some bad guys in some fashion, Willis smirks some more, and then a lot of things blow up. Dig it:
So McClane finally goes from German thieves pretending to be terrorists (Die Hard, Die Hard With A Vengeance) and American terrorists pretending to be patriots (Die Hard II: Die Harder, Live Free or Die Hard) to finally just punching the crap out of the entire nation of Russia. Should work out just fine. The film drops on February 14, 2013.
