Hold on there just a minute, are you saying that we may see a Michael Bay movie in which its lead character is female? This possible surprise may just be the tip of the iceberg in terms of the changes we’ll be seeing on his latest film Transformers 4. As long as she isn’t saying “No” at least fifty times per hour then we’re happy.

What we’re referring to is the latest rumor that the sequel nobody asked for, best known as Transformers 4, has begun casting. What makes the casting so interesting is the way they described their main character (which sparks the female lead rumor):

“The new female lead that they are looking for is a high school senior and her boyfriend a Texas racing driver.”

Now what does this mean? Well firstly they want to separate themselves from the previous three movies by casting a whole bunch of new faces, which we already know. But what about this female lead? If we’re getting a cool new girl leading the charge in the sequel we’re interested to see who’ll be considered. At the same time, we’ve seen a number of Michael Bay films at this point and aren’t particularly happy on how the main female characters are overly sexualized.

Since we’re on a film wave that showcases stronger young women, along the lines of Katniss from The Hunger Games, maybe we’ll get a character like that in Transformers 4. Okay, maybe we’re just dreaming a bit. Still, we’re intrigued where the production’s going in general and secretly hope that one day an updated version of “The Touch” will be incorporated into one of the films.
