Even though you don’t hear a whole lot about Kevin Smith these days (assuming you avoid Twitter), the man is still as busy as a bee. He might not be directing much, but he’s got a million other things going on. Aside from his SModcast podcasts, he’s got Spoilers with Kevin Smith on Hulu and AMC’s fantastic Comic Book Men, which just returned for its second season on Sunday. Now he’s also set to distribute Alter Egos, an indie superhero comedy he didn’t direct. Check out the first official trailer for the film below.
Alter Egos is directed by Jordan Galland (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead) and stars Kris Lemche, Danny Masterson, Christine Evangelista and Sean Lennon. The film tells the story of an under-appreciated superhero going through an emotional crisis during a time when superheroes have lost all government funding and public support.
Besides co-starring as the villainous “Electric Death”, Lennon also contributed an original musical score. He previously collaborated with Galland on the score of Rosencrantz and Guildernstern.
It was announced back in July that Smith’s Phase 4 Films got the U.S. and Canadian rights to distribute the movie. In July, Alter Egos got its world debut at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.
Based on the trailer, the film looks quirky and funny. It’s always fun to see an emotionally disturbed guy run around in tights, right? Here’s the trailer:
And here’s a cool poster:
Alter Egos hits limited theaters on Friday, October 19. It will be available on VOD starting November 20.
