Well, Batman fans, the truth you were dreading—but also more than likely expecting—has finally come.  The details concerning the special features for The Dark Knight Rises blu-ray have been released and, well, it may not be what you had hoped for.

Ever since information leaked that The Dark Knight Rises’ villain Bane had an entire origin story that was shot and then subsequently deleted, fans have been frothing for an extended cut, director’s cut, or even a collection of deleted scenes from the final film in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.  Rumors even began to develop that Nolan would, for the first time, be releasing an extended cut of one of his films on blu-ray (despite the obvious and nagging fact that Nolan already has final cut on his films—meaning the theatrical releases are his director’s cuts).  And, of course, that rumor was swatted down rather quickly.

But hey, we could all still hope for a collection of deleted scenes, right?

Wrong.

Entertainment Weekly (via /Film) released the full list of special features for the upcoming Dark Knight Rises blu-ray and, we’ve got to say, they’re the pretty predictable collection we were expecting:

  • The Journey of Bruce Wayne
  • The Batmobile documentary
  • Ending the Knight - ”An in-depth look featuring about 17 featurettes at how Nolan and his production team made The Dark Knight Rises from Batman vs. Bane to totally demolishing a city.”
  • Trailers
  • Art Galleries

Oh well.  At least we can likely hope for a gorgeous blu-ray image, as Nolan’s films tend to be top-notch on home video.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Ultraviolet on December 4th.

What do you think of the blu-ray details?
