Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah recently got its official release date, and we couldn’t help but be very excitement – this thing looks epic! Today we have the very first peek inside Noah’s ark. This is definitely not the ark they teach you about at Sunday school, boys and girls. Check out the image below.

The image comes from cinematographer Matthew Libatique‘s Twitter (thanks to Coming Soon for the heads up). Along with the photo, Libatique wrote, “Pre lighting on the holiest day of the year.”

The image looks like someone’s worst nightmare. The ark is filled with piles and piles of large snakes and there’s even a big, fat crocodile roaming around. It’s pretty sickening, but also intriguing.

Noah tells the famous story of the man who set out to do God’s will by building a giant ark that would house every animal from the earth to save them from the flood that would wipe out all living things.

Russell Crowe is joined by a spectacular cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Saoirse Ronan, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Kevin Durand and Mark Margolis.

The movie is set to sail into theaters on March 28, 2014.
