Despite the fact that Space Jam was, well, Space Jam, and the fact that the Joe Dante-directed Looney Tunes: Back in Action was something of a financial disaster, Warner Bros. is yet again attempting to revive the Looney Tunes franchise for the big screen because, hey, that Muppet movie did alright and what the hell, maybe we could make it 3D and toss it at the wall, see if it sticks.
Moreover, Warner Bros. has hired former Saturday Night Live cast member Jenny Slate (you know, the one who said f**k on air and then made the goofy face) to wrist the script for the film, which, like Space Jam and Looney Tunes: Back in Action, will be mixture of live action and animated (CGI), because that worked so well the last two times around.
David Katzenberg and Dark Shadows screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith have signed on to produce the film, along with Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and Jeffrey Clifford.
No word yet on a title, but one hopes Warner Bros. will be honest and call it Looney Tunes: Seriously, We Just Own the Property So We Thought We’d Put it Out There Again, Maybe Somebody’d Go See It, Right?: 3D.
