Don’t know about you guys, but we’re having a serious case of Breaking Bad withdrawal. And with almost a year to wait until the next season, we’ll take anything that comes close. So we’re excited for Smashed, which stars Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as two alcoholics who try to clean up, because we need more Jesse Pinkman in our lives.

The film played Sundance, and we reviewed it there. We called Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s performance in Smashed her breakthrough (not just a pretty face) role, and that she and Paul had great chemistry together. Also of note, the film features Parks and Recreation‘s Nick Offerman, and he kills in his scenes in the film. Overall we gave the movie a 7.5, and thought the film worked as a character piece, even if it’s a small movie. But that’s a Sundance flick for you. Here’s the trailer:

The film starts hitting theaters in limited engagement October 12, and if it does well it will spread across the country. The film was co-written and directed by James Ponsoldt, and he also wrote and directed a film called Off the Black that also focused on a drunk. So this guy’s already got themes.

What are you doing now that Breaking Bad is off the air?
