If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already viewed the six-minute mega-trailer to Cloud Atlas, the mysterious new project from directors Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix trilogy) and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). And while a two-minute theatrical trailer can’t exactly replace the bombast of a six minute whopper like the last trailer, this newest ad is still mighty intriguing.
Starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, and more, Cloud Atlas is based upon David Mitchell’s well-received novel of the same name, in which various characters and storylines across space and time and dimensions are all intertwined, with each of the actors playing multiple characters in multiple plotlines.
You follow all of that? Then dig the trailer:
So there you have it—brain melting goodness. While it remains to be seen whether Cloud Atlas will be able to match the novel upon which it is based, or even live up to these trailers (or at least not be the Matrix sequels or Speed Racer), remains to be seen. However, if a movie can gain points for sheer audacity, then Cloud Atlas is already coming out ahead. You can find out for yourself when the film is released on October 26th.
