It’s hard to believe that we’ve had John McClane for nearly twenty-five years. But in 1988 Bruce Willis became a movie star with his turn in the action classic Die Hard. And in February 2013, we’ll get A Good Day to Die Hard, the fourth sequel to that classic film. But will it be a case of diminishing returns? It’s hard to say, but now there’s a clip from the film online.
Willis was on David Letterman‘s show last night to promote Looper, which he called the best script he’s ever read/worked on. David (or Dave, as he is so commonly referred) then asked about the upcoming sequel, and Willis mentioned that he had a clip that he wanted to show from it. It’s rare to have a clip before a trailer, but marketing has changed dramatically over the last couple of years.
Obviously, after twenty-five years, it’s not exactly the same character, and as we’ve worried about when the film was shot in Russia, it does appear to be a little cheaper than the previous films. What it may lack in budget, it seems to be making up in topicality, which is a first for the mostly apolitical franchise. A Good Day to Die Hard will be opening February 14, 2013 – Valentine’s Day – which seems a perfect fit considering the subject matter of the film.
