In what is quickly becoming one of our most anticipated films of the year, The Master has released yet another oddball trailer advertising its 70 mm goodness.  This time it’s a specialized collection of clips meant to advertising the special screening of the film that will be held in Chicago tonight.  Check it out below, in all of its “hey, we swear this isn’t about Scientology (but it’s totally about Scientology)” glory.

Paul Thomas Anderson is screening The Master in various cities before its official September release (he piggybacked The Master onto a screening of The Shining in Santa Monica earlier this month), and tonight, he’ll be screening the film at The Music Box in Chicago in full 70 mm.  Cool, no?  And the screening has its very own trailer—a bizarre collusion of scenes from the film, sequenced in the same off-kilter manner as the other trailers for the film.  Dig it:

The Master concerns a charismatic writer (Philip Seymour Hoffman) who launches a religious organization in the aftermath of World War II.  Joaquin Phoenix stars as a drifter that becomes Hoffman’s Number Two, but who begins to develop doubts about his new mentor and belief system.  It will be released on September 14th.
