If you were a kid in the 1980s who loved action flicks, there was one team-up you dreamed you’d see hit the big screen—Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.  But despite the occasional tease and cameo (The Last Action Hero, The Expendables franchise), a full-on team up never happened.  Until now, that is, when both actors are a little older, heavier, and saggier.  Not quite the cinematic team-up one hoped for when one was eight but, hey, it’s gotta be better than Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman in Double Team, right?

Stallone and Schwarzenegger have joined together to star in director Mikael Håfström’s action film, The Tomb.  In The Tomb, Stallone plays Ray Breslin, “the world’s foremost authority on structural security.”  He’s a man who has analyzed “nearly every” high security prison on Earth.  So, of course, he gets framed for a crime he didn’t commit, and guess where he gets sent?  That’s right, a high-tech prison facility that was built and designed around his own unbeatable (and inescapable) protocols.

While there, Stallone meets Schwarzenegger’s Emil Rottmayer, “a complex inmate with multiple shades of gray” who struggles to keep the other prisoners from “losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.”

Ok, so it’s not Rambo vs. The Terminator (or even Cobra vs. whatever the hell Schwarzenegger’s name was in Raw Deal), but hey, the ‘80s kid in you has waited nearly 30 years for this, right?

What do you think of The Tomb’s pic/ premise?
