After what seems like years of rumored movies and a possible network return, Arrested Development has begun shooting its fourth season as of today. All of the main original cast members are scheduled to return, and the season (perhaps in its entirety) will be made available on Netflix sometime next year.

This news of shooting comes from Deadline Hollywood, though they mention that the entire cast – Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat and Tony Hale – is in final negotiations, which sounds silly if they’re shooting today, especially after Jason Bateman tweeted pictures of Michael Cera on set. But perhaps things aren’t totally nailed down. Perhaps.

There have been many rumored story-lines, that each actor would get their own episode to play catch up, that it would all be leading up to an additional season or feature film, and many other possible directions that seem scrapped for a plain old regular season. Many of the cast have had their stock rise (and in some cases fall) post-show, so the question is if this will play like part of the original series, or if it will play like a reunion tour where jokes that once made us laugh are run straight into the ground. We hope for the best.
