The trailer for Lee Daniels‘ latest just hit the web. Unfortunately, that much-heard about scene where Nicole Kidman pees on Zac Efron didn’t make the cut. Instead The Paperboy clip features messy Southern accents, a trashy Kidman and a psycho-y looking John Cusack. Check out the trailer below.
Like his last movie, the daring Daniels’ newest is based off a novel, this time by American novelist Pete Dexter. The Paperboy is inspired by true events and centers on a reporter (Matthew McConaughey) and his younger brother (Efron) who travel back to their hometown to investigate the case of a death row inmate (Cusack). The rest of the cast includes Kidman, Macy Gray, David Oyelowo and Scott Glenn.
The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and the reviews weren’t all that favorable. While some called it “pulpy, sweaty, [and] outrageously entertaining” others thought it to be a “prestige stinkbomb” that will get “treated as high art.”
Even if this is a uninhibited mess of a movie, it looks like it’ll give out some pretty good performances. For one we have a completely transformed Nicole Kidman. She’s a blonde, cleavage-flashing bombshell who pees on little boys. Then there’s Matthew McConaughey who’s been having one hell of a year with great performances in Magic Mike, Bernie and Killer Joe. Here he seems extra enticing, don’t you think?
Here’s the trailer:
The Paperboy will get a limited release starting October 5th.
What do you think? Does Lee Daniels’ latest look like a disaster?
