Even though summer’s not over, we’re not that far from the release of The Avengers on DVD and Blu-ray. The film hit theaters at the start of May and now has a September 25 street date for home video. To help keep Avengers fever going, Marvel has released the first of the two during/post-credit sequences to appreciate their upcoming bad guy.
This sequence introduces us to the previously unseen Thanos, who in comic books went insane and tried to destroy most of the galaxy with his Infinity Gauntlet. And this may find itself being built to in the upcoming sequels Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and possibly even Edgar Wright‘s Ant Man.
Though an intergalactic threat sounds epic, now that the team is working together, it would be nice to see a good teamwork-based film. Only in the final moments of The Avengers did we see the gang pull together to deal out justice as a combined force, but we’d love for them to use those strengths as they try to combat a problem throughout a film. But it’s pointless to give plotting tips to a movie that likely won’t be hitting until 2015, and has no confirmed writer or director (Joss Whedon hasn’t said yes yet).
Here’s that end credit sting, for those who walked about beforehand. Alas, no shawarma in this one.
What do you think of the ending?
