Silent Hill: Revelation is coming out this Halloween – in 3D, no less – and it’s a semi-sequel to the 2006 film Silent Hill. Our guess is that you probably won’t have to know the first film or the video’s game mythology to enjoy the film. Now there’s a trailer for this Halloween horror film. Check it out…

The first film was directed by Christoph Gans (of Brotherhood of the Wolf fame, though that never caught on like I’m sure its makers were hoping it would), and there was a sense that everyone involved with the first film knew how difficult it is to adapt a video game into a compelling narrative. With this, and with film in 3D, it looks like they’re embracing the roots a little more, and embracing the game play aspects of the film. Revelations stars Adelaide Clemens, Game of Thrones stars Sean Bean and Kit Harington,  Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, and Martin Donovan.

Though it’s doubtful you will need to see the first film to enjoy this one, it is worth noting that they brought back Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell from it, which grossed $46 Million domestically. But in cinematic terms, six years is a lifetime that could lead to a rebooting, so it’s nice they went the extra mile for continuity. Silent Hill: Revelation opens on October 26th, 2012.

Does this look scary to you, or does it just look stylized?
