The Bourne Legacy hits theaters August 10, and we’re curious to see how it will play. Not only because it’s a sequel that talks a lot about Jason Bourne without actually featuring Matt Damon, but also because director Tony Gilroy is taking up the helm from Paul Greengrass, whose action sensibilities meant “lots of shakey cam.” From this clip we have a better idea about the latter.

And it looks like Gilroy has calmed the camera down. Here we see Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz in the midst of an action scene. As this sequence was featured heavily in the trailer, we expect this is a big scene, but out of context it’s not that impressive. It does suggest the film has a lot of practical stunt work, which is one of the reasons why the Bourne movies have always been engaging.

The film also stars Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, and brings back Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn from the earlier films. It feels like the jury’s out on this one, though perhaps we’ll get more buzz once it starts screening, and The Dark Knight Rises comes out. As always, our biggest question is: How can you talk that much about a character who isn’t in the movie?

Who do you think wins in a bar fight: Matt Damon or Jeremy Renner?
