Dustin Hoffman‘s favorite actress Amy Adams just booked her next role. She’ll be reuniting with director David O. Russell for his forthcoming untitled project, formerly known as American Bullsh*t. Adams would have actually been reuniting with Fighter co-star Christian Bale, but he dropped out yesterday and was quickly replaced by Jeremy Renner.

Russell’s upcoming drama will tell the real-life story of conman Mel Weinberg who worked with the FBI in a “far-reaching corruption case that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, D.C.” According to the People archives, Weinberg coaxed seven members of Congress into accepting bribes and caught some of those transactions on-camera.

The script is written by Eric Singer (The International) and produced by Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) and Richard Suckle (Scooby-Doo).

Adams will play Maxine “Max” Gardner, the mistress and co-conspirator of Weinberg, who will be played by Bradley Cooper. Renner will play the FBI agent in charge of the case.

Adams has yet to win a little golden statue. She was close with The Fighter, but that went to her co-star Melissa Leo (who some thought didn’t deserve it as much as Adams did). Still, she might get another chance at it with this picture, because she always gives her best.

Lately she’s been hard at work, and we can expect to see quite a lot of her in months to come. She’s in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master, Clint Eastwood‘s The Curve, and next year she’ll be playing Lois Lane in Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel.

Production for this untitled project begins in February. Now let’s hope Adams doesn’t have to drop out to promote Man of Steel.
