Curious as to how Marvel Studios will translate their Guardians of the Galaxy property onto the big screen?  Featuring as it does a 31st Century group of superheroes that protect the Milky Way galaxy requires a distinctive look and style, Guardians will probably be a bit more difficult to pull off than, say, The Avengers.  Curious how they will look?  Well, Marvel Studios just released a sneak peek at the film’s concept art and logo at Comic Con 2012.

You can dig the concept art directly below, and then compare that to a Guardians comic book cover.  This look is certainly…well… intriguing, even if it does make the Guardians of the Galaxy appear as if their ranks include one of the Ent walking trees from Lord of the Rings, a ragged and gun-toting Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and what appears to be a goddamn raccoon with guns.  Interesting take, no?  Here’s the art:

And here’s a Guardians of the Galaxy comic book cover:

As we have previously reported, Guardians of the Galaxy will be set in the distant future, and will center on the team of superheroes and extraterrestrials battling an evil species called the Badoom.  Avengers post-credits baddie Thanos will be a Big Bad in the film and, during the course of the movie, the Guardians will travel back to the present and rub elbows with members of the Avengers.  It is also suspected that the film will be a direct set-up for The Avengers 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 1, 2014 release.

What do you think of the Guardians concept art?
